Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Surgical Nursing to lead our surgical nursing team in delivering exceptional patient care and advancing clinical practices within our organization. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader who can foster a collaborative environment and implement innovative practices that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the surgical nursing department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety are maintained at all times.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, protocols, and best practices to enhance surgical nursing performance and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless surgical operations and high-quality patient experiences.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Utilize data-driven insights and metrics to assess departmental performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and advancements in surgical nursing to ensure compliance and enhance practice.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive nursing experience with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a surgical setting.
- Active RN license and clinical certification in surgical nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex healthcare operations effectively.
Preferred:
- Experience in a fully remote work environment and managing remote nursing teams.
- Certification in Nurse Executive (NE-BC) or similar credential.
- Proven track record of implementing evidence-based practices that enhance patient care outcomes.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in healthcare management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and methodologies to drive performance improvements.
- Familiarity with telehealth technologies and their application in surgical nursing.
