Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Perioperative Services to lead our surgical services department. This role encompasses strategic oversight and operational management of all perioperative services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality surgical care while optimizing resource utilization and staff performance. The ideal candidate will leverage their clinical and managerial expertise to drive excellence in patient outcomes and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all perioperative services, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care
- Collaborate with surgical teams and administration to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency and patient safety
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures
- Foster a culture of collaboration and communication among surgical staff, anesthesia providers, and nursing teams
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements, maintaining a continuous state of readiness for inspections
- Oversee budget management and resource allocation, ensuring the department operates within financial constraints while meeting service demands
- Lead educational and training initiatives for staff to promote professional development and adherence to best practices
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in perioperative services management, with a proven track record of leadership in a surgical environment
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia practices, and postoperative care
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations
Preferred:
- Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) or equivalent
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve operational efficiency
- Demonstrated success in driving quality improvement initiatives within a surgical department
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and perioperative management software
- Understanding of surgical instruments, procedures, and technologies
- Ability to leverage data analytics for performance improvement
