Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Surgical Technician to join our dynamic surgical team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee surgical operations, ensuring optimal patient safety and care, while implementing best practices in surgical technology and procedures. You will be responsible for leading a team of surgical technicians, providing mentorship, training, and fostering a culture of excellence in the operating room.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate surgical team activities during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring compliance with safety protocols
- Assist surgeons with complex procedures, anticipating their needs and providing necessary instruments and supplies in a timely manner
- Develop and implement training programs for surgical technicians, enhancing skills and ensuring adherence to best practices
- Conduct regular audits of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and readiness for surgeries
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and refine surgical protocols and improve overall efficiency
- Act as a liaison between surgical staff and management, communicating effectively to address any issues that arise
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 6+ years of experience as a Surgical Technician, with a strong background in various surgical specialties
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from an accredited organization
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of training and mentoring surgical staff
- In-depth knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and procedures
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant healthcare field
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and surgical management software
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS)
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in surgical instrumentation and technology, with hands-on experience in various surgical settings
- Familiarity with sterilization processes and infection control standards
- Proficiency in utilizing surgical management software and EHR systems
