Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Payroll to join our team. In this key leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of payroll operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and accuracy across our payroll processes. You will lead the payroll department, implement best practices, and drive innovations that enhance our payroll systems and employee experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead the payroll team in processing payroll for a diverse workforce, ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery
- Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Oversee payroll audits and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to integrate payroll processes with broader organizational goals
- Analyze payroll data and metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving initiatives
- Drive the implementation of payroll technology solutions to improve efficiency and enhance user experience
- Manage payroll-related inquiries and provide expert guidance on payroll issues
- Mentor and develop payroll team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in payroll management, with a proven track record in a leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices
- Experience with payroll software systems and HRIS integration
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and metrics
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience in a multi-state or global payroll environment
- Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar credential
- Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives and project management skills
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar systems)
- Strong understanding of data privacy and security regulations related to payroll
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms and integration with payroll processes
