Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and experienced Director of Payroll to lead our payroll team at [$COMPANY_NAME]. In this fully remote role, you will oversee the entire payroll function, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while implementing best practices that enhance efficiency and accuracy. Your expertise will be critical in guiding our payroll strategy and aligning it with the overall objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute payroll strategies and policies that align with the organization's goals and compliance requirements
- Oversee payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee compensation, benefits, and deductions
- Lead and mentor a team of payroll professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Implement and maintain payroll systems and technologies to streamline operations and enhance reporting capabilities
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to integrate payroll processes with broader organizational initiatives
- Monitor compliance with payroll regulations and proactively address any discrepancies or issues
- Prepare and present payroll metrics and reports to executive leadership, highlighting trends and areas for improvement
- Drive payroll audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulatory requirements
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in payroll management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements
- Proven experience with payroll software and technologies, including experience with implementation and upgrades
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound recommendations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
Preferred:
- Experience in a high-growth organization with complex payroll structures
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification
- Experience with international payroll management
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday)
- Strong understanding of HRIS and related technologies
- Experience with data analytics tools to drive insights and decision-making
