Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Oncology Nursing to lead our oncology nursing services. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of exceptional patient care, developing clinical protocols, and ensuring adherence to the highest standards of oncology nursing practice. Your leadership will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our oncology services and improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for oncology nursing services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and patient care standards.
- Develop and implement evidence-based clinical protocols and guidelines to enhance nursing practices in oncology.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing outcomes, making data-driven decisions to improve patient care quality and safety.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among nursing staff through mentorship, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care pathways and enhance the overall patient experience.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring the efficient delivery of nursing services.
- Engage in research initiatives and quality improvement projects to advance oncology nursing practices and patient outcomes.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Active RN license with a focus on oncology nursing.
- 10+ years of clinical nursing experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role within oncology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of oncology nursing standards and practices, including certifications such as OCN or AOCN.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis related to patient care outcomes.
Preferred:
- Doctorate in Nursing or related field.
- Experience in developing and implementing nursing education programs.
- Proven track record of successful leadership in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in electronic health record (EHR) systems and oncology-specific software applications.
- Familiarity with clinical informatics and data management systems to monitor patient care outcomes.
- Strong understanding of regulatory standards and quality assurance processes in oncology nursing.
