Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Hospice Nursing to lead our compassionate team in providing exceptional end-of-life care to patients and their families. This leadership role is focused on enhancing patient care standards, driving clinical excellence, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations while fostering a supportive environment for our nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures that align with best practices in hospice nursing care.
- Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of nurses and healthcare professionals to promote quality patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare providers to create and monitor individualized care plans.
- Conduct regular assessments of care delivery and patient satisfaction to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing hospice care.
- Manage budgetary responsibilities, oversee resource allocation, and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the nursing team.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state nursing license and a minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in hospice or palliative care, with a strong understanding of pain management and symptom control.
- Proven ability to develop and implement clinical protocols that enhance patient care quality.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher, with a Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing (CHPN) or equivalent.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and quality assurance within a hospice setting.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Strong understanding of electronic health records (EHR) systems and their application in hospice care.
- Ability to analyze clinical data to drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with hospice-specific software and tools to enhance operational efficiency.
