Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Oncology Social Work to lead our dedicated team in providing comprehensive psychosocial support for patients and families navigating the complexities of cancer care. This role is pivotal in shaping our oncology social work services, enhancing patient experience, and fostering a culture of empathy and resilience within our organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the oncology social work program, ensuring the integration of psychosocial support into patient care pathways
- Develop and implement innovative programs and interventions aimed at improving the emotional well-being and quality of life for oncology patients and their families
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure comprehensive patient assessments and individualized care plans that address psychosocial needs
- Oversee the training and supervision of social work staff, fostering professional development and adherence to best practices in oncology social work
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through outcome measures, patient feedback, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Advocate for patient needs within the healthcare system, facilitating access to resources and support services
- Engage in community outreach and partnerships to enhance awareness of oncology social work services and promote holistic cancer care
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
- Active clinical social work license in the relevant jurisdiction
- 5+ years of experience in oncology social work or related field, with demonstrated leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of cancer diagnosis, treatment modalities, and the psychosocial impact of cancer
Preferred:
- Experience in program development and management within a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices in psychosocial oncology
- Certification in oncology social work (OSW-C) or related credential
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems and data management tools
- Strong analytical skills to assess program outcomes and implement improvements
- Experience with telehealth platforms to provide virtual support to patients
