Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Oncology Nursing to lead our dedicated nursing team in providing exceptional care to oncology patients. In this pivotal role, you will drive clinical excellence and innovation in oncology nursing practice, while ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive oncology nursing strategies that align with organizational goals and enhance patient outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of oncology nurses, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical performance metrics, utilizing data to inform decision-making and drive improvements in nursing practice.
- Collaborate with medical staff and leadership to establish policies and protocols that ensure the delivery of high-quality oncology care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in oncology nursing.
- Act as a key advocate for oncology patients, addressing their complex needs and ensuring their voices are heard in treatment planning.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in nursing (MSN) with an active RN license.
- 5+ years of clinical nursing experience in oncology, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Cancer-related nursing certification (e.g., OCN, AOCN) or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Strong knowledge of oncology treatment modalities and patient care standards.
Preferred:
- Doctorate in nursing or a related field.
- Experience with clinical trials and research in oncology nursing.
- Proven ability to lead change initiatives and enhance nursing practice through evidence-based approaches.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and oncology-specific software.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools to assess clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
