Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Oncology Pharmacy to lead our oncology pharmacy services. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development and implementation of clinical programs that optimize pharmaceutical care for oncology patients, ensuring that our pharmacy services align with the latest advancements in cancer treatment and management.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive oncology pharmacy services, focusing on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.
- Lead initiatives to enhance medication management, including the selection, preparation, and dispensing of chemotherapy and supportive care medications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to establish treatment protocols, clinical pathways, and medication utilization guidelines.
- Conduct regular reviews of oncology pharmacy practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Mentor and train pharmacy staff on oncology-specific therapies, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Oversee budget management and resource allocation for the oncology pharmacy department, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
- Engage in research initiatives and contribute to clinical trials, enhancing the pharmacy's role in advancing cancer care.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- PharmD degree from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of pharmacy experience, with at least 3 years in oncology pharmacy practice.
- Active pharmacy license in the relevant state.
- Strong understanding of oncology therapies, clinical pharmacology, and medication safety.
- Proven leadership experience in a pharmacy setting, with a track record of successful program development.
Preferred:
- Board certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP).
- Experience with electronic health record systems and pharmacy management software.
- Advanced training or experience in clinical research related to oncology.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in chemotherapy protocols, adverse effect management, and supportive care strategies.
- Familiarity with clinical decision support systems and medication management tools.
- Proficient in data analysis to inform clinical decision-making and improve pharmacy services.
