Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Monitor Technician to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the effective monitoring of patient vital signs and alerting healthcare professionals to any significant changes. Your expertise in operating and maintaining complex monitoring systems will directly impact patient care and safety.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate patient monitoring equipment, ensuring all devices are functioning correctly before use.
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, to ensure timely alerts for any abnormalities.
- Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to communicate vital sign changes and provide insights on patient conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of patient monitoring data and report any significant changes to the medical team.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on monitoring equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in the training and onboarding of new staff on monitoring procedures and equipment usage.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Monitor Technician is preferred.
- Proven experience in a healthcare environment, particularly with patient monitoring systems.
- Strong understanding of basic cardiac rhythms and vital signs interpretation.
Preferred:
- Associate degree in a related field.
- Experience with advanced monitoring systems and technologies in a clinical setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in operating various patient monitoring devices.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care protocols.
