Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Materials Manager to lead our supply chain and materials management efforts. In this fully remote role, you will play a critical part in optimizing inventory levels, ensuring product availability, and managing supplier relationships to drive operational efficiency and support our company's growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement materials management strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and ensure timely availability of materials to meet production demands.
- Analyze supply chain performance metrics and implement improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, procurement, and logistics to align materials management with organizational goals.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and maintain strong, collaborative relationships.
- Oversee the forecasting and planning processes to ensure accurate demand predictions and material availability.
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions to proactively identify opportunities and risks in the supply chain.
- Lead and mentor a team of materials specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in materials management or supply chain operations, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive decision-making and process improvement.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or with complex product lines.
- Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, ISM) is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in inventory management principles, practices, and methodologies.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Excel, Tableau, or similar.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and supply chain management software.
