Role Overview
We are searching for an experienced and detail-oriented Marine Pipefitter Supervisor to lead our skilled pipefitting team in the construction and maintenance of marine vessels. In this role, you will oversee the installation, repair, and modification of piping systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the pipefitting team, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to develop detailed work plans and schedules for pipe installation and repairs.
- Conduct regular inspections of work sites to monitor compliance with safety protocols and quality control measures.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members, fostering a culture of safety and excellence in workmanship.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of piping systems within overall vessel design.
- Manage inventory and procurement of materials, tools, and equipment required for pipefitting operations.
- Resolve any on-site issues promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in marine pipefitting or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of marine piping systems, materials, and installation techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop team members.
Preferred:
- Experience with specialized marine piping systems such as HVAC, fuel, and ballast.
- Certification in welding and/or pipefitting from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge of CAD software and 3D modeling tools for pipe design.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of pipefitting tools and equipment, including pipe benders, cutters, and welders.
- Experience with various piping materials such as steel, copper, and PVC, and their respective installation techniques.
- Familiarity with inspection and testing methods for piping systems, including pressure testing and leak detection.
