Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Marine Pipefitter Supervisor to lead our dedicated team in the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems on marine vessels. This role requires a strong technical background in marine engineering, along with the leadership skills to manage a diverse team of pipefitters and ensure high-quality workmanship that meets safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the pipefitting team, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
- Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine piping system requirements.
- Conduct inspections of completed work to verify compliance with safety regulations and contract specifications.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to junior pipefitters, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with project managers and other trades to ensure seamless integration of piping systems within overall project scope.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during the project.
- Implement safety protocols and best practices to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in marine pipefitting or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven knowledge of piping systems, welding techniques, and marine safety regulations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Certification in pipefitting or a related trade.
- Experience with HVAC systems and marine electrical systems.
- Familiarity with safety management systems and quality control processes.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of pipefitting tools and equipment, including welders, cutting torches, and pipe benders.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
- Understanding of relevant industry codes and standards, including ABS, USCG, and API.
