Role Overview
As the Director of Industrial Safety and Health, you will play a critical leadership role in developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs across our operations. Responsibilities
- Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the company's industrial safety and health programs in alignment with operational goals.
- Oversee safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards, while staying abreast of evolving legislation and industry best practices.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to enhance employee awareness and engagement in safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze safety data and incident reports, driving root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Foster a culture of safety by promoting employee involvement in safety committees and initiatives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on safety-related matters, providing guidance and support to management and employees.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial safety and health management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful safety programs that have resulted in measurable improvements.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex safety data and develop actionable insights.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist).
- Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and organizational culture transformation related to safety.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems.
- Proficient in safety auditing tools and software for tracking compliance and incidents.
- Familiarity with environmental health and safety (EHS) software platforms.
