Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary VP of Safety to lead our comprehensive safety strategy across all operational functions. In this executive role, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of safety programs that ensure the well-being of our team members and compliance with industry regulations. Your leadership will be critical in fostering a proactive safety culture that prioritizes continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a company-wide safety strategy that aligns with our business objectives and enhances workplace safety practices
- Lead the safety team in conducting risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement effective mitigation measures
- Establish safety training programs and ensure that all employees are trained on safety policies, procedures, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into operational processes and project planning
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, preparing reports to communicate findings and recommendations to senior leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards
- Promote a culture of safety by engaging employees at all levels and encouraging their active participation in safety initiatives
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in safety management, with a proven track record in a leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices relevant to our industry
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
- Experience leading safety initiatives in a rapidly growing organization or startup environment
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in safety management software and tools for incident reporting and tracking
- Experience with data analysis tools and methodologies to assess safety performance
- Familiarity with emergency response planning and crisis management protocols
