Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic VP of Safety to lead our safety initiatives and drive a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies while promoting a proactive safety mindset among employees. As a member of the executive team, you will work collaboratively with various departments to integrate safety into our operational strategies and enhance overall safety performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies that comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Lead safety audits, inspections, and investigations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions
- Champion a culture of safety by conducting training sessions and workshops to educate employees on safety practices and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety considerations into business operations and project planning
- Analyze safety performance metrics and develop strategies to continuously improve safety outcomes
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting and compliance
- Manage the safety budget and allocate resources effectively to support safety initiatives
- Provide leadership and mentorship to safety personnel, fostering professional development and growth
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in safety management, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable guidelines
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful safety programs that drive cultural change
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH) is highly desirable
- Experience with data analysis and safety performance metrics reporting
- Familiarity with risk management and emergency response planning
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies
- Proficiency in using safety management software and reporting tools
- Experience with incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex safety concepts to diverse audiences
