Role Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Health Information Manager to join our dedicated team in enhancing the quality and accessibility of health information. This pivotal role will support our mission of delivering comprehensive health data management solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting optimal patient care through accurate health information.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the health information management (HIM) department, ensuring adherence to all federal and state regulations as well as organizational policies.
- Support the implementation and optimization of electronic health record (EHR) systems to enhance data accuracy and accessibility.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure the integrity and security of patient records, facilitating seamless information flow within the organization.
- Conduct audits and quality checks on health information to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of staff on health information processes and compliance requirements.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in health information management or a related healthcare role.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information privacy standards.
- Strong analytical skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex data and present findings effectively.
Preferred:
- RHIT or RHIA certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
- Experience with EHR systems and health information exchange initiatives.
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding, and other relevant medical coding standards.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in health information management software and EHR systems.
- Experience with data analysis tools and reporting software.
- Strong understanding of database management and health information systems.
