Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Generating Station Mechanic to oversee the maintenance and operation of our generating station facilities. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of mechanics, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment while implementing best practices to enhance reliability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanics engaged in the maintenance, repair, and operation of generating station equipment, including turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of mechanical systems to identify issues and initiate timely corrective actions.
- Develop maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical failures, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior mechanics, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to execute major overhauls and upgrades of generating station equipment.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a power generation environment.
- Proven track record of supervising technical teams and managing maintenance operations.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree or equivalent technical certification in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Experience with maintenance management systems (MMS) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety standards relevant to power generation.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep expertise in mechanical systems and maintenance practices specific to generating stations.
- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and techniques.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting mechanical issues.
