Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Emergency Communications Manager to join our team. In this critical role, you will oversee the development and implementation of our emergency communication strategies, ensuring that our messaging is clear, timely, and effective during crisis situations. Responsibilities
- Lead the development, execution, and evaluation of comprehensive communication plans for emergency situations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all emergency communication initiatives, providing strategic guidance and support to teams across the organization
- Manage the creation of communication materials, including press releases, social media posts, and internal communications during crises
- Conduct regular training sessions and simulations to prepare staff for effective communication during emergencies
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment during crises, adjusting communication strategies as necessary
- Collaborate with emergency management teams to ensure that communication protocols are integrated into overall emergency response plans
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, with a focus on crisis management
- Proven track record in developing and executing effective communication strategies in high-pressure environments
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in monitoring media coverage and assessing public sentiment
Preferred:
- Experience in emergency management or public safety communications
- Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media platforms
- Certification in emergency management or crisis communication
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in communication management software and tools
