Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Ambulance Dispatcher to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in coordinating emergency response operations, ensuring timely and effective communication between emergency services and the public. You will utilize our dispatch systems to monitor and manage ambulance deployments, contributing to the safety and wellbeing of the community.
Responsibilities
- Monitor incoming emergency calls and accurately assess the nature of the request to dispatch the appropriate ambulance units.
- Maintain clear and continuous communication with ambulance crews, providing updates and any necessary information regarding patient conditions or other emergencies.
- Utilize dispatch software to log calls, track unit locations, and manage response times effectively.
- Collaborate with emergency services, hospitals, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth patient handoffs and resource allocation.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel on standard operating procedures and best practices for emergency response.
- Participate in regular training sessions and drills to enhance dispatch skills and operational readiness.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in emergency management or communications is a plus.
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in emergency dispatch or a related field is an advantage.
- Familiarity with emergency response protocols and terminology.
- Basic knowledge of local geography and road networks.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Experience with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems is preferred.
