Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Emergency Department Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this crucial role, you will support the emergency department by assisting healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care, managing equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff alike.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the triage process by conducting initial patient assessments, recording vital signs, and communicating pertinent information to the nursing team.
- Prepare and maintain the emergency department for patient arrivals, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Support physicians and nurses during medical procedures by providing necessary instruments and assisting with patient positioning.
- Monitor and document patient conditions and progress, reporting any changes to the healthcare team promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols and safety policies.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to emergency care.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or equivalent training program.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Strong ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced and emergency situations.
Preferred:
- 1+ years of experience in an emergency department or critical care setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in using medical equipment such as defibrillators, EKG machines, and IV pumps.
- Basic knowledge of nursing procedures and protocols.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems for documentation and reporting.
