Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Dairy Bacteriologist to lead our research and development efforts in dairy microbiology. In this role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of bacterial cultures and their interactions within dairy systems to drive innovation and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in our products. Your expertise will be critical in developing strategies that improve dairy product microbiological integrity and enhance shelf life.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage research projects focused on dairy microbiology, including the identification and characterization of beneficial and pathogenic bacteria.
- Develop and implement protocols for microbial testing and quality assurance across dairy production processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product development initiatives and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Analyze and interpret complex microbiological data to inform product formulations and process improvements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior bacteriologists and laboratory staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous learning.
- Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders and contribute to scientific publications and industry conferences.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Dairy Science, or a related field with a focus on bacteriology.
- 10+ years of experience in dairy microbiology, including a strong background in bacterial fermentation and quality control.
- Proven track record of leading research initiatives and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards related to dairy products.
Preferred:
- Experience with advanced molecular techniques, including PCR and next-generation sequencing.
- Familiarity with dairy processing technologies and their impact on microbial populations.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in microbial culture techniques, microbial ecology, and statistical analysis of microbiological data.
- Proficiency in laboratory management software and data analysis tools.
