Role Overview
As a Cytogenetic Technologist, you will play a critical role in our laboratory operations, utilizing advanced techniques to analyze chromosomal abnormalities and contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment. Your expertise in cytogenetics will enable you to perform complex analyses and ensure the highest quality standards in genomic testing.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-resolution chromosomal analysis using techniques such as karyotyping, FISH, and array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH).
- Prepare and analyze biological samples, ensuring precise documentation and adherence to laboratory protocols.
- Interpret cytogenetic results and provide detailed reports to clinicians, collaborating to enhance patient outcomes.
- Conduct quality control procedures to maintain laboratory accreditation and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Stay current with advancements in cytogenetic technologies and methodologies, contributing to process improvements and innovation.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Cytogenetics, Biology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Cytogenetic Technologist (ASCP or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with a focus on cytogenetic analysis.
Preferred:
- Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) for data entry and report generation.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software for data analysis.
