Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Hematology Laboratory Supervisor to lead our remote laboratory team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the daily operations of the hematology laboratory, ensuring the highest quality of diagnostic testing and compliance with all regulatory standards. Your leadership will directly impact patient outcomes and the overall efficiency of our laboratory services.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise the hematology laboratory staff, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance and adherence to best practices.
- Oversee the quality assurance program, including the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including CAP, CLIA, and state regulations.
- Monitor laboratory workflow, optimizing processes to enhance efficiency and turnaround times for test results.
- Conduct regular staff training and competency assessments to maintain a skilled and knowledgeable laboratory team.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive operations and effective communication regarding laboratory services.
- Act as a liaison between laboratory staff and external stakeholders, including physicians and healthcare providers, to address any inquiries or concerns.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with a focus on hematology.
- Strong leadership skills with proven experience supervising laboratory personnel.
- In-depth knowledge of hematology testing methodologies and laboratory instrumentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent.
- Experience in a remote laboratory management role.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in hematology analyzers and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Familiarity with quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) practices.
- Proficient in data analysis and laboratory metrics to drive performance improvements.
