Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Clinical Laboratory to lead our innovative laboratory operations. In this fully remote role, you will oversee the clinical laboratory's technical and operational functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while driving advancements in laboratory practices to enhance patient care.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of clinical laboratory operations, including staffing, budgeting, and compliance with applicable regulations (CLIA, CAP, etc.)
- Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure high-quality service delivery and patient safety
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives that improve laboratory efficiency and turnaround times
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess laboratory performance and implement data-driven improvements
- Mentor and develop laboratory personnel, fostering a culture of continuous education and professional growth
- Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and healthcare providers, to maintain strong relationships and ensure alignment on laboratory services
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in clinical laboratory operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of laboratory management systems and regulatory requirements
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving operational excellence
Preferred:
- PhD in a relevant scientific discipline
- Experience with molecular diagnostics and advanced laboratory technologies
- Demonstrated experience in budget management and resource allocation
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR) integration
- Proficiency in quality assurance methodologies and laboratory accreditation processes
- Familiarity with laboratory automation and data analytics tools
