Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Crossing Guard Supervisor to oversee the safety operations of crossing guards in our community. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe passage of students and pedestrians at designated crossing points while coordinating and managing a team of crossing guards effectively. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe environment and enhancing community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of crossing guards, providing training, support, and performance evaluations
- Coordinate schedules and assign crossing duties to ensure adequate coverage during peak times
- Conduct regular safety audits and site assessments at crossing locations, implementing necessary improvements
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and community stakeholders to enhance pedestrian safety initiatives
- Act as a liaison between parents, schools, and local authorities regarding pedestrian safety concerns
- Maintain accurate records of guard schedules, incidents, and safety reports
- Implement safety protocols and best practices in accordance with local regulations and guidelines
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in safety management is a plus
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a safety or community-focused role
- Strong understanding of traffic safety regulations and pedestrian safety protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergency situations
Preferred:
- Experience working with children or in educational environments
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Familiarity with community outreach and engagement strategies
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using communication tools and software for scheduling and reporting
- Basic understanding of traffic management systems and safety technology
