Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Detention Major to oversee and manage the operations of our detention facilities. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of both staff and detainees, while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage detention facility operations, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure safety, security, and compliance with regulations.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff to enhance operational effectiveness and safety.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies effectively, ensuring the safety of all individuals within the facility.
- Prepare and maintain operational reports, including incident reports and statistical data.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in detention management or a similar role, with a proven track record of effective leadership.
- Strong understanding of detention facility operations, security protocols, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
- Certified in detention management or related certifications.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using management software to track operations and incidents.
- Familiarity with electronic monitoring systems and safety equipment.
- Understanding of data analysis techniques for operational reporting.
