Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Detention Officer to join our team, responsible for maintaining safety and security within our detention facilities. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the well-being of detainees while upholding the highest standards of facility operations and compliance with legal guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise detainees to ensure their safety and compliance with facility rules and regulations.
- Conduct regular security checks and inspections of detainee areas to prevent contraband and ensure a secure environment.
- Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and conflicts within the facility.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation regarding detainee behavior, incidents, and facility operations.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and other agencies to ensure efficient operations and proper handling of detainees.
- Participate in training programs to stay current on best practices and legal requirements related to detention management.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in law enforcement or security is a plus.
- Proven experience in a correctional or detention facility, law enforcement, or security role.
- Strong understanding of security protocols and emergency response procedures.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Certification in crisis intervention or conflict resolution.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding cultural sensitivities.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using surveillance equipment and security technology.
- Familiarity with incident reporting software and record-keeping systems.
