Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Detention Officer to lead and oversee our detention facility operations. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, implementing best practices in security, and fostering a safe and rehabilitative environment for detainees.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures that promote safety, security, and humane treatment within the detention facility
- Manage daily operations, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Supervise and train staff, promoting professional development and a culture of accountability
- Collaborate with law enforcement and community stakeholders to enhance security and operational effectiveness
- Oversee budgeting and resource allocation to optimize facility operations

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in detention facility management or a related field
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing complex operations
- Strong understanding of legal regulations and compliance in detention settings
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to implement strategic initiatives and lead change within an organization
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation
- Familiarity with rehabilitation programs and community reintegration strategies
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in detention facility management software and security systems
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to inform decision-making processes
- Knowledge of risk management and incident response protocols
