Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Correctional Facility Manager to oversee the operations of our correctional facility. This pivotal role involves managing facility staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for both staff and inmates. You will be responsible for strategic planning and execution of programs that enhance rehabilitation and reduce recidivism.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the correctional facility, ensuring adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote safety, security, and rehabilitation
- Supervise facility staff, providing training, performance evaluations, and career development opportunities
- Collaborate with law enforcement, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support rehabilitation programs
- Monitor inmate behavior and ensure compliance with facility rules, addressing issues as they arise
- Prepare and manage the facility budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain compliance with health and safety standards
- Lead crisis management efforts and develop response protocols for emergencies within the facility
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in corrections or law enforcement, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of correctional policies, procedures, and best practices
- Proven leadership abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage conflict and implement crisis intervention strategies
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Experience with rehabilitation programs and inmate management strategies
- Certification in correctional management or related professional designations
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using correctional management software and incident reporting systems
- Familiarity with data analysis to inform decision-making and improve facility operations
