Role Overview
We are seeking a Detention Major to oversee the operational management of detention facilities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a secure environment. This role is critical in implementing policies and procedures that support the overall mission of the organization while effectively managing a team of professionals dedicated to upholding high standards of care and safety.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of detention operations, including staff supervision, inmate management, and facility maintenance.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitor and analyze facility performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate training and development programs for staff to enhance skills and ensure adherence to established protocols.
- Act as a liaison between various stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, legal representatives, and community organizations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure the facility meets safety and operational standards.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in detention or corrections management, with a proven track record of leadership.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal detention regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment and managing diverse teams.
- Professional certifications in corrections management or related areas.
