Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Sonographer to lead our ultrasound department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and diagnostic imaging. In this pivotal role, you will manage sonography operations, mentor staff, and innovate practices that enhance our imaging capabilities and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the ultrasound department, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory standards
- Lead, mentor, and train sonographers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Develop and implement quality assurance programs to enhance imaging accuracy and patient safety
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care pathways
- Stay abreast of advancements in sonographic technologies and techniques, integrating them into clinical practice as appropriate
- Conduct complex sonographic examinations, providing expert interpretations and actionable insights
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and scheduling to ensure efficient operation
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a sonography role, with at least 2 years in a leadership position
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound procedures, protocols, and safety standards
- Proven ability to manage personnel and departmental operations effectively
Preferred:
- Advanced certifications in specialty areas such as abdominal, obstetric, or vascular sonography
- Experience with ultrasound equipment procurement and maintenance
- Demonstrated experience in research or clinical trials related to sonography
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in operating advanced ultrasound equipment and software
- Strong understanding of imaging techniques and modalities
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and imaging data management
