Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Cardiac Sonographer to lead our echocardiography department. In this strategic role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality cardiac ultrasound services while fostering an environment of excellence in patient care and technical proficiency. You will be instrumental in implementing advanced imaging techniques and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the echocardiography team, providing support and mentorship to sonographers in clinical practice and professional development
- Develop and implement protocols for cardiac imaging procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Oversee daily operations of the echocardiography lab, including scheduling, quality assurance, and equipment maintenance
- Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret echocardiographic findings and contribute to patient management strategies
- Conduct complex echocardiographic studies, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, and provide expert analysis
- Stay current with advancements in echocardiography technology and techniques, leading educational initiatives within the department
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in cardiac ultrasound with progressive leadership responsibilities
- In-depth knowledge of echocardiographic techniques, anatomy, and physiology
- Proven ability to interpret echocardiographic data and collaborate effectively with clinical teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field
- Experience with advanced imaging modalities such as 3D echocardiography or strain imaging
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in echocardiography equipment and software, including 2D, Doppler, and 3D imaging technologies
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and data management
- Strong analytical skills for quality assessment and improvement initiatives
