Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Barge Superintendent to oversee the safe and efficient operation of our marine transportation activities. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, safety procedures, and operational standards while managing barge operations and crew. You will play a crucial role in optimizing performance and minimizing risks associated with barge operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise barge operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of barges and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Oversee crew performance, providing guidance and training to ensure high standards of operational excellence.
- Collaborate with logistics and planning teams to schedule and coordinate barge movements efficiently.
- Monitor and report on performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, addressing concerns and facilitating communication.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in marine operations or related field, with a focus on barge management.
- Strong knowledge of marine safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex operational challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with budget management and cost control in marine operations.
- Marine-related certifications, such as STCW or equivalent.
