Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Archaeology Project Manager to lead and oversee archaeological projects from inception through completion. This role will involve coordinating fieldwork, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders and team members.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets for archaeological projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate fieldwork operations, including site selection, excavation, and artifact analysis, while leading a team of archaeologists and technicians.
- Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to archaeological practices and historic preservation.
- Prepare and present detailed reports, research findings, and recommendations to stakeholders, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout project lifecycles.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing archaeological projects, including fieldwork and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of archaeological methodologies, regulatory compliance, and preservation practices.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative working environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with GIS technology and its application in archaeological research.
- Certification from a recognized archaeological organization.
- Familiarity with cultural resource management and historic preservation legislation.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in archaeological field techniques and laboratory methods.
- Proficiency in GIS software and data analysis tools relevant to archaeological research.
- Strong technical writing skills for producing comprehensive project reports and proposals.
