Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and experienced Aquaculture Manager to lead our aquatic farming operations. This role is pivotal in overseeing the production of aquatic species in a sustainable manner while ensuring optimal growth conditions, resource management, and compliance with regulatory standards. You will play a crucial role in enhancing production efficiency and driving innovation in aquaculture practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement aquaculture production plans to maximize yield and ensure sustainable practices.
- Oversee daily operations, including feeding, breeding, and health management of aquatic species.
- Monitor water quality and environmental conditions, making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal habitat.
- Lead and mentor a team of aquaculture technicians and farm workers, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local and national aquaculture regulations.
- Analyze production data and prepare reports to inform strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
- Research and implement innovative techniques to enhance aquaculture productivity and sustainability.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in aquaculture management or a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of aquatic species biology, water quality management, and sustainable farming practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with advanced aquaculture technologies, such as recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
- Proven track record of improving operational efficiency and sustainability in aquaculture settings.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in aquaculture software and data management tools.
- Familiarity with water quality testing equipment and methodologies.
- Experience with biosecurity measures and disease management protocols.
