Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Aquaculture Farm Manager to join our innovative aquaculture operations team. In this pivotal role, you will assist in managing the daily operations of our aquaculture farm, focusing on sustainable practices that promote growth, health, and efficiency in fish production. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining high standards of care and operational excellence while working closely with the Farm Manager to implement strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support the Farm Manager in overseeing daily farm activities including feeding, breeding, harvesting, and water quality management
- Assist in developing and implementing best practices for sustainable aquaculture operations
- Monitor health and growth of aquatic species, identifying and addressing any signs of disease or distress
- Maintain accurate records of fish health, environmental conditions, and production metrics
- Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards
- Participate in training and mentoring farm staff on operational procedures and safety protocols
- Contribute to research and development initiatives aimed at improving farm productivity and sustainability
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, or a related field
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in aquaculture or a related field
- Strong understanding of fish biology, water quality management, and aquaculture systems
- Proficient in data management and record-keeping practices
Preferred:
- Experience with recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and their maintenance
- Familiarity with aquaculture regulations and sustainable practices
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data analysis software for monitoring and reporting
- Experience with aquaculture management software and tools
- Knowledge of environmental monitoring equipment and techniques
