Services offered on the site include writing, translation, graphic design, video editing, and programming. Initially, all tasks were priced at $5, which is where the name "Fiverr" originated, though many sellers now charge more. The platform is global, with freelancers and businesses spanning an estimated 160 countries.

Fiverr's platform is designed with a comprehensive SKU-like services catalog and an efficient search, find, and order process that mirrors a typical e-commerce transaction. It operates under a Service-as-a-Product (SaaP) model, offering a comprehensive catalog of various productized service listings, known as Gigs. Fiverr went public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in June 2019 under the ticker symbol FVRR. The company is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, with additional offices in New York, London, Kyiv, Berlin, and Orlando. Over the years, Fiverr has made several acquisitions to expand its service offerings, including VeedMe (2017), AND.CO (2018, later Fiverr Workspace), ClearVoice (2019), SLT Consulting (2020), Working Not Working (2021), CreativeLive (2021), and Stoke Talent (2021).
