What You’ll Be Doing

Full-Cycle Accounting Oversight: Review client reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end close deliverables to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Team Leadership: Manage, support, and mentor Accounting Managers and Accountants across your client portfolio.
Client Communication & Insight: Help founders interpret their numbers, understand performance drivers, and make informed decisions.
Process & Systems Improvement: Strengthen workflows, documentation, and internal controls while identifying automation opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Fractional CFOs to ensure alignment between operational accounting and financial strategy.
Scalability & Structure: Build frameworks that improve efficiency and support long-term client growth.

What You Bring

⭐ CPA designation (or equivalent professional credential).
⭐ 5+ years of experience as a Controller or in a similar leadership role.
⭐ Deep understanding of full-cycle accounting and internal controls.
⭐ High proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or Xero (NetSuite is a bonus).
⭐ Analytical mindset — you see patterns, trends, and risks early.
⭐ Strong process orientation — documentation, structure, and optimization come naturally.
⭐ FP&A or financial modeling skills are an asset.
⭐ Excellent communicator — you explain complex issues with calm clarity.
⭐ A grounded leadership style — you lead with steadiness and elevate those around you.

Your Journey at UpCounting

Your First Week
Meet the People Team and Accounting leadership, explore our async tools, and review sample client files. You’ll learn the UpCounting approach to accuracy, communication, and structure.

Month 1
You’ll begin owning live client files, working with them to align on workflows, supporting reviews, and joining client calls to build context and trust.

In 3 Months
You’ll fully own your client portfolio, providing financial guidance, mentoring your accounting team, and supporting founders with clear, strategic insight. You’ll be the person others rely on for structure, precision, and direction.
