Contract term/location: 3 - 6 months working remotely in the US

Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced curriculum designer with strong knowledge of higher education accreditation standards to lead the development of a Woolf University-accredited master’s level program using Udacity’s existing catalog. This role requires instructional design expertise, experience with graduate-level academic programs, and an understanding of how to integrate applied learning with academic rigor.

Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum Mapping and Program Design

  • Analyze Udacity’s catalog of Nanodegree programs and identify content that aligns with Woolf University's master’s-level requirements.
  • Design a modular master’s curriculum using Udacity content and map it to Woolf University's course workload requirements and outcomes.
  • Create a full curriculum plan including titles, modules, ECTS credit equivalencies, and content workload alignment.

2. Academic Content Development

  • Where Udacity content does not meet Woolf University's required hours or academic depth, develop supplemental academic exercises (e.g., research reviews, discussion prompts, academic reading guides).
  • Create activities where students critically engage with scholarly research, synthesize findings, and answer reflective or analytical questions.

3. Capstone Project Design

  • Design a 750-hour capstone experience that meets master's-level academic standards.
  • Integrate and scaffold existing Udacity project work into a cohesive portfolio-based capstone, adding summative components such as research papers, presentations, or peer review.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in curriculum design for accredited graduate-level programs (preferably in computer science, AI, data science, or a related field).
  • Familiarity with ECTS credit system and/or Woolf University's academic requirements is a plus.
  • Strong background in instructional design, educational research, or pedagogy.
  • Ability to critically analyze technical content and supplement it with academically rigorous activities.
  • Excellent written communication and project management skills.
  • Comfortable working independently with distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with asynchronous, project-based, or competency-based learning models.
  • Background in instructional design for technical or STEM subjects.
  • Familiarity with Udacity's catalog or similar tech education platforms.
  • Experience designing or evaluating academic capstone or thesis projects.

You’ve probably heard the following statistic: Most male applicants only meet 60% of the qualifications, while women and other marginalized candidates only apply if they meet 100% of the qualifications. If you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every single point in the job description, please apply!

We believe that historically, many processes disproportionately hurt the most marginalized communities in society- including people of color, working-class backgrounds, women and LGBTQ people. Centering these communities at our core is pivotal for any successful organization and a value we uphold steadfastly. Therefore, Udacity strongly encourages applications from all communities and backgrounds.

As part of our ongoing work to build more diverse teams at Udacity, when applying, you will be asked to complete a voluntary self-identification survey. This survey is anonymous, we are unable to connect your application with your survey responses. Please complete this voluntary survey as we utilize the data for diversity measures in terms of gender and ethnic background in both our candidates and our Udacians. We consider this data seriously and appreciate your willingness to complete this step in the process, if you choose to do so.
