About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented freelance illustrator with mid-level industry experience to create compelling visuals for their upcoming autobiography. The primary task is to design a bold, shocking, and creative cover art that captures the essence of the book's subject matter. Additionally, there may be a need for black-and-white interior illustrations throughout the book.

Responsibilities:

• Design a thought-provoking and visually striking cover art for the autobiography that aligns with the book's theme and title.
• Collaborate with the author to understand their vision and requirements for the cover art and potential interior illustrations.
• Conceptualise and develop original illustrations that complement the book's content and add visual interest.
• Utilise appropriate illustration techniques and mediums to create high-quality artwork.
• Ensure that the cover art and illustrations are suitable for print and meet the necessary file format and resolution requirements.
• Incorporate feedback and revisions from the author to refine the artwork.
• Deliver the final cover art and interior illustrations (if required) by the specified deadline of Q3 2024.

Requirements

• Mid-level experience as a freelance illustrator, with a strong portfolio demonstrating diverse illustration styles and techniques.
• Expertise in creating bold, provocative, and visually impactful artwork suitable for book covers and interior illustrations.
• Proficiency in industry-standard illustration software and tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, etc.).
• Strong conceptual and creative thinking abilities to develop original and captivating visual narratives.
• Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for composition and visual aesthetics.
• Ability to interpret and translate the author's vision into compelling illustrations.
