Therakos is a pioneering healthcare company specializing in extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) technology and has been providing ECP solutions for over 35 years. The company is the global leader in autologous immune cell therapy delivered through photopheresis, developing and manufacturing the THERAKOS CELLEX Photopheresis System, which is the only fully integrated and validated system for the delivery of ECP treatment. Therakos serves healthcare professionals and patients across 30 countries, with treatments delivered in over 300 treatment centers worldwide.

The company's core technology involves extracting blood from patients, separating white blood cells, treating them with UVADEX (methoxsalen), exposing them to UVA irradiation, and returning them to the patient. This innovative immunotherapy approach is primarily used for the palliative treatment of skin manifestations of Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma (CTCL) that have not responded to other forms of treatment. Therakos also provides comprehensive support services including the Therakos Institute for professional education, customer support through Therakos Total Care, and patient and funding access programs. In November 2024, CVC completed the acquisition of Therakos from Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, marking a new chapter for the company while maintaining operations through a Transition Services Agreement.
