The New School

The New School is a private research university located in New York City, founded in 1919 by a group of progressive intellectuals including Charles Beard, John Dewey, and Thorstein Veblen. Originally established as The New School for Social Research, the institution was created as a place for adult education and intellectual inquiry, free from the censorship and traditionalism of the time.
