Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Cloud Data Engineer to join our growing data team. This role is ideal for recent graduates who are passionate about cloud technologies, data pipelines, and analytics. You will work alongside experienced engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions in a cloud environment, helping turn raw data into meaningful insights that drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Support the development of ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources
  • Work with Snowflake to load, transform, and manage structured and semi-structured data
  • Optimize data storage, querying, and performance within Snowflake environments
  • Collaborate with data analysts and business users to prepare datasets for visualization in Tableau
  • Assist in creating and maintaining Tableau dashboards and reports to support business insights
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure performance, quality, and reliability
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and transformation
  • Participate in data modeling and database design efforts
  • Maintain documentation for data processes, systems, and workflows
  • Stay current with emerging cloud and data engineering technologies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Understanding of data structures, data modeling, and ETL concepts
  • Exposure to big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Internship or academic project experience in data engineering or cloud technologies preferred

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$73,200 - $109,800
