That's No Moon emerged in 2021, a new star in the AAA game development constellation, born from the collective vision of industry veterans. Michael Mumbauer, Tina Kowalewski, Taylor Kurosaki, and Nick Kononelos, names associated with some of the most lauded and commercially successful titles like The Last of Us, Uncharted, Destiny, and Call of Duty, co-founded the studio. Their shared ambition was clear: to forge a new generation of narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences that would resonate deeply with players. The studio's name itself, a nod to a classic cinematic moment of unexpected scale and wonder, encapsulates their aspiration to deliver impactful and memorable interactive entertainment. From its inception, That's No Moon set out to build a culture centered on creativity, collaboration, and responsible production practices, recognizing that the well-being and empowerment of their team are integral to crafting exceptional games.

The studio's journey was significantly propelled by a landmark partnership with Smilegate, the creators of the global phenomenon 'CROSSFIRE' and the popular MMO RPG 'Lost Ark.' This collaboration came with a substantial investment exceeding $100 million, a testament to the confidence in That's No Moon's vision and the talent of its team. This financial backing enabled the studio to establish state-of-the-art facilities, including a performance capture stage in Los Angeles, and to begin assembling a diverse and highly skilled team. Their debut project, an ambitious AAA single-player, third-person action-adventure game, is being helmed by Taylor Kurosaki as Creative Director and Jacob Minkoff as Game Director. The studio quickly grew, aiming for a team of 100 developers by 2022, and has continued to expand, attracting talent from across North America and globally with its remote-friendly approach. That's No Moon is not just developing games; they are endeavoring to build immersive worlds and compelling stories that push the boundaries of interactive and linear media, aiming to leave a lasting impression long after the credits roll.
