Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Shopify Developer to join our client’s global e-commerce engineering team. The client is currently transitioning their shopping platform to Shopify, moving away from a custom-built solution to improve scalability and streamline operations across international markets.
As the technical lead for Shopify development, you’ll architect, build, and maintain scalable Shopify solutions. You’ll collaborate with both internal and external teams to ensure that the new platform is designed for long-term growth, clean architecture, and seamless system integrations.
This is a high-impact role for someone who understands Shopify deeply — from front-end customization to backend integration — and who thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Shopify Development: Build and maintain the core Shopify front-end architecture using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid templates.
Backend Integration: Support integration efforts between Shopify and other internal systems, ensuring data, logic, and functionality flow smoothly.
Platform Migration: Drive the migration of existing markets to Shopify, ensuring each regional storefront meets design, functionality, and performance standards.
Architecture Ownership: Define and maintain a scalable, flexible Shopify structure that supports multiple markets and future feature growth.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with internal teams and external Shopify vendors to align on best practices, technical standards, and scalability goals.
Pilot Launch: Contribute to the pilot release of the new Shopify experience — setting the foundation for future rollouts across additional markets.
Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and performant code that aligns with industry best practices.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues quickly to maintain high uptime and reliability.
Documentation: Maintain technical documentation on integrations, architecture, and market configurations.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidate must be located in Latin America (LATAM).
7+ years of professional experience in front-end or full-stack development.
3+ years of hands-on experience building, customizing, and scaling Shopify stores.
Deep understanding of Shopify architecture, Liquid templating, and theme development.
Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6+), with a focus on responsive design.
Experience with API integrations, Shopify Apps, and backend connectivity.
Proven track record in platform migrations or large-scale Shopify implementations.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of technical deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Shopify Plus, Hydrogen/Remix, or headless Shopify architecture.
Familiarity with React.js, Next.js, or similar front-end frameworks.
Experience working with multi-region, multi-language, or multi-currency e-commerce setups.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Why Join Us?
High-Impact Role: Lead the technical execution of a global e-commerce migration to Shopify.
Flexibility: 100% remote position based in LATAM with flexible working hours.
Collaboration: Partner with talented engineers and top Shopify vendors around the world.
Growth: Influence platform architecture and scalability decisions for a solution used across multiple international markets.
