Our Data Solutions team leads new customer implementations, and helps our sales team demo our product! We're looking for an experienced leader to help us scale our implementations processes as we grow quickly.

Exciting update: We just closed our Series A a couple months ago (see more details here). It's a really fun + empowering time to be joining our Subbie team!

The basics

  • The product ✨: We're building the premier metrics-first finance and billing platform that empowers B2B SaaS leaders to invoice their customers, tell their ARR story, and track accounting revenue, all in one place—regardless of how complex their customers' contracts are
  • What does the Data Solutions team do at Subscript?: The team's work is a unique and exciting hybrid between implementing data integrations and working hands-on with customers. The DS team has technical and analytical chops, while also loving operating in a high-empathy and customer-first way (note: this is NOT strictly a data engineering role, nor a customer success role).
  • The role you'll play on our team:
    • You'll lead an existing team of 5 amazing Data Solutions teammates! And you'll hire to grow this team further
    • You'll be taking a critical eye to our current implementations strategy to improve them and make them scalable as we grow our customer base rapidly! This could entail revamping processes, introducing new internal tooling, reallocating team resourcing, etc. You'll bring in your prior data-heavy client implementations experience from other successful roles.
    • You'll work as a member of the leadership team, cross-functionally with the whole company, including our co-founders Sidharth Kakkar and Michelle Lee. They formerly built and successfully exited a B2B SaaS company called Freckle Education, and this is their second start-up.
    • We're a young company with a lean team (current under 30 people, but growing quickly!), so you'll have a huge say in how we shape and build all parts of our organization 👯‍♂️. You'll have a ton of autonomy in defining + iterating on best practices and processes to really help both our customers AND our teammates reach the moon!
    • Note: We're looking for someone who can not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk. The right candidate for this role will be excited about kicking off their time here getting their hands dirty and running a few client implementations end-to-end to get familiar with the team's work!
  • The way we work:
    • We are an asynchronous 🕛 team
      • We don't do scheduled internal meetings, so the vast majority of communication is available to anybody at any time in written documentation, whole-company Slack channels, and video documentation. If you're sick of pointless meetings, this is the place for you!
      • Sounds a little nuts, right? But it works! And it's one of our secret sauces for why our team is so high-performing (and happy!). You can hear more about working in our Async culture in this podcast episode featuring our CEO.
    • We operate completely autonomously 💃🏿
      • No one will tell you what to do; everyone gets transparent context and details about the company goals and you will figure out how to work towards them with the rest of the team!
    • This is a remote job 🌎 - work anywhere you want
      • Although we are fully remote and asynchronous internally, our clients are all over the world; so, you'll be leading a team that takes calls in all different time zones.
    • We're a team that loves working together
      • We love playing board games 🎲 (these we do synchronously 🙂). Full-time team members meet up multiple times per year for live off-sites around the world (expenses paid!)

Our interview process

We like to be really transparent and communicative about everything at Subscript, including our interview process:

Our interview process is designed to evaluate your ability to empathetically lead teams, successfully scale data implementation processes for growth, and your ability to communicate clearly (both written and in video calls). We default to asynchronous communication internally, so the majority of the interview process follows suite 🙂.

The interview will focus around your ability to understand, support, and engage our awesome customers 🤝

  1. We'll do a short, 15 minute phone call to learn a bit more about your experience, and share more about the role
  2. We'll ask you to work on a strategic plan for scaling implementations at Subscript, including hiring strategies
  3. We'll ask you to work on a short Excel / SQL exercise to learn a bit about how you approach problems
  4. You'll do a deep dive into your background with our CEO

Requirements

  • 5+ years or experience running SaaS implementations
  • 3+ years of experience working with SaaS finance data, especially in revenue, invoicing, and ARR analytics
  • 3+ years of experience managing, including teams of 5 people
  • Deep understanding of software product development processes

Bonus points for:

  • Familiarity with GLs, CRMs, and payment processing software
  • Spreadsheet know-how
  • Experience working with REST APIs
  • SQL mastery
