Position Description

The Grants and Fundraising Specialist plays a pivotal role in driving SubjectToClimate’s fundraising efforts by managing the operational and administrative aspects of funding initiatives. Acting as a project manager for funding applications, this role involves tracking opportunities, maintaining timelines, and organizing critical information to ensure a seamless process. As a mid-level position, the Grants and Fundraising Specialist will receive robust training and support from the Development team. By streamlining these processes, the Grants and Fundraising Specialist enables the Development team to focus on crafting impactful, mission-aligned strategies to advance SubjectToClimate’s goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Grant Research and Prospecting

    1. Identify and research potential funding opportunities.

    2. Monitor new requests for proposals and open grants.

    3. Collaborate with the State Lead team, harnessing their connections and expertise to identify funding opportunities.

  2. Funder and Donor Communications

    1. Maintain a detailed schedule of communications with funding prospects, ensuring consistent engagement with foundations and individual donors.

    2. Share updates on organizational programs with current funders and draft outreach materials for prospective donors.

    3. Manage communications with the individual donor database to nurture relationships and build engagement.

  3. Grant Applications and Submissions

    1. Draft compelling grant applications aligned with funding priorities and organizational goals.

    2. Coordinate any feedback and letters of support required for an application.

    3. Managing feedback and submission processes.

Qualifications

This role requires strong organizational, communication, and research skills, as well as a proactive approach to supporting fundraising initiatives and fostering meaningful relationships with funders.

Requirements

  • Adaptable skills and ability to pivot to new tasks

  • Attention to detail in managing complex processes

  • Available to work 20-30 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating fundraising campaigns, donor engagement strategies, or philanthropy initiatives

  • Experience drafting, editing, and submitting grant applications

  • Familiarity with the grant funding process, including research, compliance, and deadlines

  • Communications background

  • Proficiency in working in a remote environment (zoom, slack, Monday.com)

  • Ability to balance working independently and collaboratively
