Statkraft has been making clean energy possible for over a century. That’s what we offer. 125 years of unrivalled expertise in supplying the world with what it needs most. We envision a world that runs entirely on renewable energy. Because in the fight against climate change, we don’t see renewable energy as part of the solution – we believe it must be the solution. With us, you’ll shape a career that is truly forward-facing with many amazing opportunities and offerings to match.

But there’s more work to be done – that’s why we need you to join us.

Job Description

The Global Software Development team is a specialist software development team in Statkraft that delivers leading software for all business areas in Statkraft, ranging from web applications to advanced analytics tools. Custom software development is essential for Statkraft to remain a market leader in renewable energy production and market access. We are looking for great people to join our software development team. If you enjoy challenging yourself by pushing boundaries and working in a competitive environment where technology is evolving the business we operate in, then we would love to talk to you.

Your role:

After an introduction in our development process and our development environment, you will be given the chance to learn what is important in our market operations and gain an understanding of the energy market.

Our renewable energy portfolio is a mix of wind-, solar-, battery-, and hydropower and the operation of these many different production units is highly automated. You are asked to contribute to the development of software and scripts that enhance the communication between our systems and in term the development of software and scripts directly used by our business. We also learn from our interns and we find it important to give you the needed responsibility and independence.

As a working student in software development, you will closely engage with the business by building customized solutions giving a competitive edge in the power market. The following tasks are part of your job profile:

  • Implement solutions within agreed timescales
  • Coordinate implementations with international customers and our internal IT infrastructure department
  • Prepare release notes and operational handover documents
  • Participate in other system development projects

You will work in our office in Düsseldorf (hybrid but not fully remote). The working time (20 hours max.) can be organized flexibly within the week.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • You are currently enrolled in a degree program in natural sciences, economics, engineering, or computer science.
  • You have some hands-on experience with .NET and C# programming.
  • You are familiar with the Angular framework — you understand the basics like components, modules, services, routing, and directives.
  • You know your way around API integration and RESTful services, and you’ve used HttpClient in Angular.
  • You are comfortable using Git for version control — branching, pull requests, and resolving merge conflicts don’t scare you.
  • You enjoy working with others and communicate clearly and effectively.
  • You take initiative, work independently, and like to get things done.
  • You are fluent in English

Additional Information

At Statkraft, you’ll shape a career that is truly forward-facing with many amazing opportunities and offerings to match. This includes (non-exclusive):

  • The chance to grow your career alongside a truly global network of experts, leaders, specialists and graduates from different countries and backgrounds
  • The opportunity to work somewhere with pride, and to be able to honestly say “My work is contributing to saving the planet”
  • A work culture that puts emphasis on the individual, offering flexible working solutions, and work life balance principles
  • A focus on fun outside of work, supported by various activity groups such as soccer, yoga, sailing, climbing, boxing, cabin rentals, and much more
  • Being part of a company proudly certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’

Our vision is to renew the way the world is powered. To navigate the complex journey ahead, we need every voice at the table. We therefore work actively to be a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcome all applicants regardless of background, gender, age, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnicity, nationality or disability.

Statkraft offers competitive terms of employment and benefits schemes, and we’re a trusted employer that puts the safety of our people first. We believe that a safe and healthy working environment is a matter of choice, not chance.

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. We conduct background checks on qualified applicants before hire. This may include a conflicts of interest statement from candidates.
