About State Policy Network
State Policy Network (SPN) is the only organization in the country dedicated solely to building and mobilizing a durable state-based infrastructure for freedom. Founded in 1992, SPN supports a powerful movement of 62 independent state think tank affiliates and over 100 national partners, all working toward advancing free-market policy solutions at the state level.
SPN accelerates the success of its member organizations by helping them build Durable Freedom Infrastructure - a battle-tested strategy that deploys key capacities to push policy reforms across the finish line, withstand legal challenges, win in the court of public opinion, and ensure hard-fought wins last beyond the next election cycle. The organization provides strategy support, targeted grants, leadership training, and intentionally frequent connections between peers so they can test and replicate success from state to state.
SPN identifies innovative policy opportunities, builds coalitions between state think tanks and national partners, creates educational messaging resources, and works with state and federal officials to defend the proper balance of power between Washington, DC and the states. Through Peer Networks, an Annual Meeting bringing together over 1,000 members, and Multistate Policy Initiatives, SPN connects organizations with critical resources from information and capital to talent and peer connections.
